troubles in paradise.

I am having a hard time with wordpress. These theme things just mess up everything! Am starting to think if switching to Wordpress was such a good idea. Only thing that looks okay at the moment is the blog-index. Everything else is pretty much fucked up.

I might as well check out the quotes. What else, what else.

How does this border thing look like?

Yeah, so, beware of seeing weirdness all around until I get things fixed.

wordpress and continuing hell with MT

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

Well, I did it. I transfered everything to Wordpress and got rid of Movabletype. Geamy, if I can’t now get rid of the comment spam and templates messing themselves up, I am rightfully entitled to switch over to LJ completely. Eh?

I installed WP, didn’t uninstall MT. WP worked. Mt worked (so and so). Next day, WP has stopped working, MT (for god’s sake!) has overriden WP with auto updates!!! Have now deleted blog from MT. Wordpress seems to be working again.

So this is my first offical entry with wordpress. Although I haven’t found all the finesses everyone else seems to have on their blogs. Took me a while to figure out where the syndication files were.

What I think will be easier is keeping the code tidier and W3 friendly.

But I have to disappoint those who registered with typekey. You know why, of course.

Anywhoo. I’ve finished my UCAS application, finally. As I am applying to a university in England, I had to go through the hell of filling in a three-page application form. Plus photo, plus interview, plus International Reply Cupon, plus this plus that. And I had my bank tell me they can’t make direct debits to a foreign account. :blank: WTF? What the hell is the bank for if they can’t do anything? Well, anything that a customer might ask for, and not even very outrageous. So, had to drive to Helsinki to have mum sign the credit card payment form. Great.

I have an intense craving to go on a vacation. I want sun, I want relaxation, I want vacation! Everyone else I know is travelling, to Spain, to France, to the Alps, even to Åre in Sweden to go skiing. I want to a spa! Anywhere! Take me there!

I have no idea where all the time went. Last two weeks went by with me doing absolutely nothing except play on my Gamecube (and this only because Pal insisted I keep the PS2 at home). This should tell you at which plane my life really is. Except of course last Wednesday, when a couple of friends and I went to the local club (pathetic little place, really). We got ourselves into a good enough state to survive the rest of the week. I bet the photography teacher was impressed enough about my lack of productiveness. I learned a lot, really, just…didin’t produce much. Two good photos, the two first I made, really.

And OMG!!!11! Pal got the first taste of the new Kent album, which I ordered from CDOn. It arrived yesterday, but guess who’s about 80km away from the precious thing? ME! And she went on and listened to it. My own fault, really, since I didn’t clearly state that she shouldn’t. I mean, I’m just being envious here of the preview she got before me. Well, it’s not too bad, since I’ll hear it tomorrow, but still I’m antsy. Which is no news because I’m always antsy. But that has nothing to do with being excited about something, which regarding Kent is the case.

To wrap up…er… I always seem to be able to mention a lot of things, but never make a clean wrap up of the things I’ve mentioned. So, yet again, a clumsy closure for this entry. I might check into making more updates on the layout while I figure out the rest of what Wordpress is capable of. Oh yeah, and I finally customized fan.ashke.nu.

Happy International Women’s Day!

That is all.
